The P2P-Next Project

We are the P2P-Next consortium, an EU-funded project experimenting with the future of online content delivery using peer-to-peer (P2P) technology.

User Trials

A key goal of our project is engagement with users throughout the development and testing of the platform. This lets you get a taste of what the technology can provide during its development as well as providing valuable results on the performance and capabilities of the system. You can register your interest for other trials here.

The Closed Swarm Trial

In this technical trial we use a technique known as closed swarms to allow both authorized and non-authorized users access to our content. If you take part in the trial and provide us with your mobile phone number, we'll send you a text message with a unique access code totally free of charge. If you use this code in the trial, you will gain full access to several high speed servers which should allow you to watch the film streamed in your browser. If you don't want to provide us your phone number you can can still take part in the trial and view the content (just close the authentication window by clicking the little X in the corner) and you will get access to the same content but through a lower speed server. If there are lots of non-authorised users taking part, you may get lucky and recieve the video quickly, if not, you will just have to wait or experience picture break up and video loss.

In this trial you will not be charged any money for the service we are just looking to test the process. Additionally, we will not use your mobile phone number for any other reason and will not contact you again or pass your details to any third party.

Content Credits for the film Wouthi

Stein Erik Wouthi makes objects from organic material. In April 2004 the artist exhibited at Samii Art Centre in Karasjok, Norway. At the last day of the exhibition he moved his objects down to the riverbank and burned them! Not as a protest, but to bring them back to nature. A consequence of his artistic idea. An idea of transformation, presence and transitoriness.

In the film this idea is brought forward also by the artist music and lyrics. Words read in a mix of English and Samii by the female Samii artist Synnøve Persen. "Wouthi" is produced by Original Film AS situated in Tromsø, Norway.
